Welcome to the House Manager Resource Hub. We Built This for You.
A letter from Sage Haus founder Kelly Hubbell on why we built the House Manager Resource Hub — and what it means for your career.
If you're reading this, you're probably in one of three places.
Maybe you've been working as a house manager for years and you're looking for a better match — a family that values what you bring, compensation that reflects your experience, and an agency that treats you like a professional. Not a line item.
Maybe you're a nanny whose kids are heading to school, a teacher thinking about a change, a hospitality pro who's burned out on 12-hour shifts, or a military spouse starting over in a new city. You've got skills that families are paying $25 to $45 an hour for — you just didn't know this career existed.
Or maybe you're somewhere in between. Curious. Not sure what house management actually is, but something about it caught your attention. You're here because you want to learn more before you commit to anything.
Wherever you're starting from — this site was built for you. All of you.
Why we built this
I started Sage Haus after experiencing firsthand how life-changing a house manager could be. When friends and family came to me for advice on finding and hiring for this role, I realized something that stuck with me: most of the people who would be incredible at this job had no idea it existed.
Nannies and family assistants didn't know the value of the skills they'd spent years building. Teachers didn't realize that managing a classroom of 25 kids translates directly to managing a household. Former hospitality professionals didn't see that their ability to coordinate logistics under pressure — and make it look effortless — is exactly what families are willing to pay a premium for.
That gap — between the talent that's out there and the families who need it — is why Sage Haus exists. And this site is the next step in closing it.
What you'll find here
We designed the House Manager Resource Hub — not a job board, not a signup form, not a pitch. It's a set of tools built to meet you wherever you are in this journey.
The quiz
Start here. It takes about 2 minutes. You'll answer a few questions about your background, your skills, and what you're looking for — and we'll show you exactly how your experience maps to the house manager profession.
No resume required. No application. No commitment. Just clarity about your strengths as a house manager and what your next step could look like.
Make your profile visible
Ready to be matched? Take a few minutes to set up your profile — your availability, skills, and the kind of role you want. It's how our team connects you with the families you'll fit best, now and as new roles open.
Career resources
We put together a set of free guides and tools for people at every stage:
- Social Profile Upgrade Guide — a 30-minute pass on your LinkedIn and Instagram so families see the professional you already are
- Interview Prep Guide — what families actually ask, how to prepare, and how to walk in feeling ready
- Resume Builder — paste your experience into a custom AI prompt and get a polished, ATS-friendly house manager resume in minutes
- Becoming a House Manager — a 21-minute video training I recorded on how to break into the profession, where to find roles, and how to position your skills
Every guide here is free. If it helps you get placed, it's doing its job.
Open roles
We post real positions with vetted Sage Haus families across the country — ongoing, long-term roles (full-time and part-time), not short-term or as-needed placements. Every listing includes a real pay range and a direct application link. New roles go up every week — filter by state, role type, or search by keyword.
If you don't see something in your area, submit a general application. We'll match you when the right family comes along.
Certification
For candidates who want to formalize their skills — or career changers who want a credential before they apply — we created the Sage Haus Certification. It's 90 minutes, self-paced, and covers household operations, family dynamics, systems building, and career strategy.
Certification is never required — but it signals to families that you're serious about the profession, and it gives you the frameworks to walk into any household with confidence.
What this career actually looks like
I want to be direct about this, because it matters.
House managers earn $50,000 to $120,000 a year full-time. Part-time roles pay $25 to $45 an hour. These aren't inflated numbers to get clicks. They reflect what the role actually involves — and what families are willing to pay for someone they can trust with the systems behind their daily life.
This is a real career. With real compensation, real flexibility, and growing demand. There are more families looking for the right person than there are qualified candidates to fill the roles. That's not a pitch — it's the market we operate in every day.
You don't need a specific degree or prior experience as a house manager. You need judgment, reliability, and the ability to build and run systems. If you've spent years doing that in another field — teaching, hospitality, childcare, admin, the military, or your own home — you're closer to this career than you think.
How Sage Haus is different
We're not a staffing agency in the traditional sense. We don't hand a family a stack of resumes and disappear.
Every family we work with is vetted before you walk through the door. You'll know their expectations, communication style, and history with household staff before you commit. The families we work with typically hire house managers as W-2 employees — documented work history, verifiable income, tax records that follow you. That matters when you're applying for a mortgage, a lease, or a loan.
And we don't charge candidates to place you — our fees come from families. We do offer an optional professional certification, but it's never required to work with us. Your job is to show up with your skills. Ours is to find the right match.
Start wherever you are
You don't need to have everything figured out. That's the whole point.
If you're just curious, take the quiz. It's free and takes 2 minutes. If you want to learn more about the profession, watch the training or read through the guides. If you're ready to apply, browse open roles and find something that fits.
There's no wrong door here. Every path leads to the same thing: a career where the skills you've already built are genuinely valued — and compensated accordingly.
I'm glad you found us. We'll be here when you're ready.
